Article: Hospital Alert for Anxious Mothers

This article briefly covers some of the mental health issues that can arise after a traumatic birth.

I do question the statistics at the end of the article regarding PTSD, my research has led me to believe they are significantly higher, but I also think that perhaps many women go undiagnosed and this could be a factor in the discrepancy.

Hmmmmm the women only "percieve" the birth as being traumatic. That says a lot doesn't it.
I don't know anything about anxiety but if it's such a big problem, maybe they could look at what these women are being told in antenatal classes that is making them anxious. I know if i had been told while pregnant " x, y and z could go wrong, but if they do, don't worry we'll make it all better with major abdominal surgery" you bet i'd be anxious Shocked I also think there is a culture amongst women of sharing "horror stories". couple that with older first time mums(loss of career, income drop, fear of birth defects) and a rising c-section rate and i can see where the women are becoming anxious.
