Why a feminism sub forum?
This is something I've been mulling over for a while.
The more I explore and gain experience in the area of birth and traumatic birth experiences, the more I see that a significant amount of inequities and dissatisfaction within the maternity system comes from not taking into account the needs of the woman and baby, and respecting the birth process itself. Birth is an issue that feminism can help explain, if not provide all the answers (which I do not believe one approach or theory can do).
As such, I think it's important to have an area on the forum where we can discuss and explore the issues of birth (and other issues if you desire) from a feminist perspective.
Additionally, I personally have found I had many misconceptions about feminisms (because there are more than one 'type' of feminism, each which take a different approach) when I first started investigating this. And, I have observed that many of my misconceptions are fairly common, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to debunk these myths, for those who choose to partake.
I have appointed heket to moderate this section, as she has a good knowledge and understanding of issues pertaining to feminism. I'm looking forward to some great discussion herein!

Hooray!!!!!
I'm not seeing any answers that feminism can't provide for birth though
The problem is that no one HAS any feminism anymore, Feminists have been laughed out of business and told how CRAZY they all are. Crazy. Yep, that's me
