Certified Doula in Adelaide
Hello wise women.
I am a current practicing doula in Adelaide having completed my training through Optimum Birth in 2008. I have been a doula since 2007 and have supported women in the hospital cared for by an Ob or midwife and attended homebirths. I am extending my interest about women's health and childbirth further and am a current midwifery student at an Adelaide University.
I am an active member of our local support group CARES SA Inc (Caesarean Awareness Recovery Education Support) and have been supporting women on a personal and emotional level since 2002. I am one of the groups currently active doula's and support women through the group during their experience of pregnancy, labour and birth and the immediate postpartum period. I am a member of Birth Matters SA and involved with our local doula group currently in it's infancy and early development stage called DoSA (Doulas of South Australia).
I myself have experienced a traumatic c/s and then after much soul-searching and personal research gone on to experience two empowering vbac's cared for by an independent midwife. One of my birth stories has been published in David Vernon's book titled Having a great birth in Australia. Writing my birth expereinces was part of my healing process from a traumatic birth.
My passion in life is to ensure women experience a positive birth whether it be in a hospital or home. If you would like to find out more about my doula services please contact me direct at nurturingbirths@iprimus.com.au. I have a website I can redirect you to which details everything about me and my doula care.

Re: Recommend a Practitioner
Thank you for sharing that with us, Jane. It's lovely to hear from someone who has created such a positive path for both yourself and others from a traumatic experience.
We would love to read your birth stories, you can post them in our Birth Stories section if you would like to further share.
Do you find a big difference in the way you need to practice with different types of births- say home and hospital, or birth centre, or whatever?
