I'm reading the final part of a trilogy by Robin Hobb. It's called The Soldier Son Trilogy and I love it! I'm a slow reader at the best of times but atm, reading with a toddler, a 9yr old, Anthea's illness, and grief - well it's a slow process!

Something I have discovered since Bodhi's birth, is that there is a veritable mine of books about birth, some of which are so very valuable in terms of wisdom (and quite a number that aren't).

I am interested to know what 'birthy' books (or other topics as relevant) have helped you- whether it be to learn about birth, to recover from birth trauma, or that have generally been influential in how you integrate the concept of birth into your world view.

There are quite a few for me, but ...

If you are beginning to doubt yourself and to feel confused and worried about giving birth...

It is time to focus on something simple, positive and inspirational. It is time to come back to centre and listen to your own inner wisdom.

Book Review- "Fresh Milk: The Secret Life of Breasts"

Fiona Giles, 2003. Griffin Press. 267 pages

Whilst most books addressing breast feeding address the subject from a practical perspective, this one looks at it from a more theoretical and social angle.

Instead of dispensing advice on how best to breast feed, it looks at the way we as women are shaped by the breast feeding experience, as well as how it impacts on our children and society at large.
