There are a number of ways your baby can be positioned (known as "presentations") in the womb.

Your baby may be bottom up (vertex) or bottom down (breech).

Above: A baby in the vertex position. Most babies will be in this position at the start of labour.

Above: A baby in the breech position. There are different kinds of breech: complete breech, where legs are crossed, in the fetal position and with bottom in the pelvis; incomplete or frank breech, where ...

By: Myra DeLuca, Doula

As the moons pass month after month

My belly and breasts swell

Fuller and Rounder - radiating the glow of life within.

I admire the wonders of my womanly body as

My sensuous curves turn motherly

My motherly curves remain sensuous.

If you are pregnant, let us know, so we can help you celebrate this feminine, divine part of your life, and support you through any fears you may have.

Very few of us achieve a hospital vbac. Those that do usually have some reasons behind it, not because the hospital was great

Me? (well it wasn't PLANNED it became a necessity when labour began at 28w) I managed a vbac because I arrived at hospital 10cm dilated and my sister was there advocting for me. I would have been happy to sign the paper and have a third c/sec - I was WAAAAY over it! I had my baby in under an hour after arrival.

When they checked my dilation they informed ...

I read an article today which said that to reduce the number of womyn requesting surgery we need to first examine WHY womyn would choose it. I agree completely! The reasons womyn elect surgery seem to tell a sad tale of our expectations of birthing in a medicalised environment. Some of these reasons off the top of my head are :

fear of pain in birth

fear of tearing

fear of episiotomy

fear of repeat traumatic birth

fear of changed genitals (which actually says more about ...

I spent lots of time planning Spikees birth and it went awry. I spent no time planning the vbac that happened, but it just happened. It gave me a thought ... I think that womyn "planning" vbac need to deal with issues from their past birth, put some time into a brief birth plan, and just wait for a baby to come out! Despite all the papers we sign stating we'll never give birth vaginally, the fact remains that many womyn (in particular those who homebirth) DO give birth using the right ...

It amazes me how simlilar all our traumatic birth stories are. They all go (pretty much) like this ...

I was a week overdue and so they induced me even though I didn't want to be induced. The pain was horrific so I had pethedine / epidural. Then the contx slowed down so they gave me more synto.

Possible Ending 1 : Then the baby went into distress. And they cut him / her out of me. I had <insert horrible reaction here > to the surgery and / or drugs.

Possibly Ending 2 : ...
