Birth Healing Mission Statement
Birth Healing Mission Statement
Birth Healing exists to support women and children who have been through traumatic birthing experiences.
Birth Healing aims to help these women, children and the mother/baby dyad to heal and grow from such experiences.
Our secondary aims are to help equip support people to assist in recovery; and the prevention of birth trauma.
Birth Healing values:
*Community and interdependance
*The sacredness and healing power of a circle of wise women
*The inherent nature and ability in all of us to find healing in a way that resonates with us individually
*Positivity
*The ability to communicate openly, authentically and with respect
*Feminine strength
Healing is an active process, and that whilst the terrain may be steep and difficult, we may climb the mountain to peace together.
Birth Healing acknowledges the importance of anger and grief, and also the equal importance of working through these emotions to find positivity and strength in all experiences. Birth Healing encourages members to feel how they need to feel, not how society believes they should feel. Only by being true to our selves may we grow. There is no shame in grieving for a birth that wasn't what you wanted.
Birth Healing is a strong advocate for women-centred practice. Birth Healing aims to help parents become aware of all choices available to them in pregnancy and birth, especially those that empower the pregnant woman, that are shown by sound research to be beneficial to both mother and child, and those that are not given adequate media and/or obstetric attention.
Birth Healing believes that pregnancy, labour and birthing is a natural not medical event, and that pregnancy, labour and birthing is as much a mental and spiritual phenomenon as it is physical.
Birth Healing encourages women to be responsible stewards of society and take part in activism create change in those areas that are not conducive to a positive society.
