Hello from Sammi- the Site Administrator

Hi everyone-

I thought it was about time I posted a formal introduction and some information about myself.

I am a Qualified Member of the Australian Counselling Association and hold an Advanced Diploma of Applied Social Science, with a focus on counselling.

I established Birth Healing as a forum for support, healing, growth and action after birth trauma, after experiencing a traumatic birth with my own child.

In the past I have worked with children and families in an alternative schooling system; with young people in a residential youth service; and with students with behavioural issues within the public school system.

My focus in Birth Healing is to assist members to heal and deepen their experience of self in the issues surrounding their birth experience, to facilitate learning and to help create support networks between those affected by birth trauma.

I have a deep respect for the process of pregnancy and birth for a woman and family, and the psychological and social impacts of birth.

I also run a private counselling practice specialising in all areas of birth, from preconception through to early parenting, and I am freelance writer on birth and social issues. I live in Bellingen on the NSW North Coast, with my son and husband.
